Ewayne
Ewayne is a friendly, jovial man whose laughter often fills the air at ReVive’s Engagement Center.
Having lived a life marked by poverty, addiction, mental illness, and homelessness, Ewayne calls his 30-year journey "The Trail." But despite these hardships, Ewayne embodies the spirit of resilience and hope. “It’s never too late to change,” he often says, sharing his story to inspire others.
Ewayne loves the Engagement Center, a safe space where he can socialize, play a game of pool, watch movies, enjoy meals, and access vital services from ReVive team members and community partners. From the moment he first stepped into the Center, he felt a sense of comfort and belonging that he had longed for over the years. It was in this nurturing environment that he rebuilt his life.
With the help of the ReVive team, Ewayne replaced his lost identification cards, applied for affordable housing, and even obtained a new cell phone. Today, he lives stably in a CHA senior building. Although he still faces challenges, Ewayne knows he is not alone. The ReVive team continues to stand by his side, offering support and guidance.
But Ewayne's story doesn't end with his own recovery. His years on The Trail taught him resourcefulness, and he loves sharing this knowledge with others to ease their transition to stable housing. Ewayne’s story is a testament to the power of community, compassion, and the belief that it’s never too late to change.
